  136. Picard is at the head of the table in the briefing room off
  137. the main bridge, Riker is to his right, Worf to Riker's
  138. right and Geordie across from Worf.  Space, the planet and
  139. the Enterprise-C can all be seen out the windows.  The mood
  140. is tense.

  145.           The last thing Admiral Colltear said was
  146.           that he had received a message from the
  147.           Klingon High Command regarding this
  148.           case.  Perhaps you could provide some
  149.           insight into the motives of the
  150.           Klingons, Mr. Worf.

  155.           No, Captain.

  160.           No, you have no insights, or no you
  161.           refuse?

  163. Worf remains silent, staring across the table to avoid
  164. Riker's stare.

  169.           Worf, I think it's time we let the
  170.           Captain and Commander Riker in on our
  171.           little secret.

  173. Worf glares across the table at Geordie furious over his
  174. statement.  He still refuses to speak.  Riker looks from
  175. Worf to Geordie.  Since Worf isn't talking, Riker addresses
  176. Geordie.

  181.           What's going on here, Commander?

  184.                            LA FORGE

  186.           Worf asked me to set up a tight beam
  187.           scrambled channel to a point in the
  188.           Klingon Empire on a Klingon defense
  189.           force frequency.  He sent them a message
  190.           of some kind.  I don't even know what it
  191.           was.

  193.           I'm sorry, Worf, but they had to know.

  197.           Your brother!  You sent him a message,
  198.           didn't you?

  203.           Yes.

  213.           I asked him to discretely let the High
  214.           Command know that the heros of Norendra
  215.           III still lived and that they were in
  216.           need of assistance.

  221.           I agree with your objectives, Mr. Worf,
  222.           but your methods are questionable at
  223.           best.  On the other hand, you may have
  224.           indirectly provided us with just the
  225.           ammunition we need to vindicate these
  226.           people.

  228.           I must speak with Admiral Colltear
  229.           immediately.

  231. Picard stands, and as he does so he gives Riker a look that
  232. somehow sends the message - you look after these two, they
  233. need a little discipline.  Picard walks away and exits the
  234. room.  Worf and Geordie stand as if to leave as well, they
  235. get to within a step of the door before Riker speaks.

  240.           I don't recall having dismissed anyone!
  241.  
  242. Worf and La Forge stop in their tracks and turn to face
  243. Riker.  Riker stands, he is on one side of the table, they
  244. on the other.  Worf snaps to attention.   Geordie tries to
  245. but he looks like he's forgotten how, he glances at Worf for
  246. a hint and then straightens up.  Riker strolls around the
  247. table to their side and walks around them, his hands joined
  248. behind his back.

  251.                            RIKER

  253.           Mr. Worf, there is a proper chain of
  254.           command aboard this vessel.  It is my
  255.           duty to see that the ship functions
  256.           properly and to keep the Captain advised
  257.           of any activities worthy of his
  258.           attention.  Going behind my back to pull
  259.           this little stunt is a serious breach of
  260.           that protocol that will not be
  261.           tolerated.

  263. Worf and LaForge straighten up even more.  Riker turns to
  264. LaForge.

  269.           Mr. LaForge, since you are the senior
  270.           officer, I have no choice but to hold
  271.           you accountable for this incident.
  272.                     (a beat)
  273.           Mr. Worf, you are dismissed!

  275. Worf goes to an "at ease" posture then confronts Riker.

  280.           Commander, Mr. LaForge was not
  281.           responsible . . .

  286.           I said you are dismissed, Mr. Worf!

  288. Worf nods and then turns on a heel and exits.  LaForge
  289. remains at attention.

  294.           As for you, Mr. LaForge, I will let the
  295.           Captain decide whether a written
  296.           reprimand will appear on your record.  I
  297.           hope you will exercise better judgement
  298.           next time something like this comes up.

  300.           Don't let it happen again, Geordie.
  301.           You're dismissed.

  308. Geordie walks briskly out of the conference room,  Riker is
  309. left alone, he shakes his head.
